Past Performances

9/8/18 Music is Art at Buffalo Riverworks

Since 2008, Music is Art has been a free event highlighting artistic talents from within our community.  For the past 2 years, the festival has been hosted at Riverworks Park. The multi-sensory festival draws over 20,000 people and is part concert, part bazaar, street fair and art gallery. Buffalo Aerial Dance took a page from the old-school circus playbook, with colorful costumes and hair, in keeping with the other local circus weirdos of the 716 sideshow who performed alongside us.  And we loved the fabulous shark mouth mural behind us adding some drama to the show!

8/26/18 Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts

B.A.D. dug deep into our artistic side for this year’s EAFA, collaborating with Ballet Ex Machina to produce aerial arts infused with ballet and contemporary dance.  We used music that was shadowy and ominous and developed choreography to match, contrasting the edgy and industrial with delicate moments.  We choose rope and lyra for the simple elements of line and circle, and for the way they reveal the stripped down strength and dynamics of the performers.  Ballet Ex Machina contributed to the artistry with our grounded choreography, and a beautiful solo blending lyra and pointe work. Big thank you to Living in the Buff studios and Glen Murray for capturing the

8/25/18 Leonard Oakes Steampunk Festival

Steampunk Festival 2018 did not disappoint!  Guests were greeted by the Grand Canadian SteamPunk Exposition, Steam Nation, the Rochester SteamPunks, Buffalo SteamPunks, and the fabulous SteamPunk Stilt-Walkers!  Fabulous music, super creative steampunk shops and booths, a variety of talented performers, and the best hard cider around make this event a superb party every year. Buffalo Aerial Dance returned for the fourth time to defy gravity for all the Steamers & Punkers.  We had our best crew yet, if I dare say so myself.  Our performers took to the sky on lyra, silks, trapeze, and an all-new double bar trapeze act! Thanks to Living in the Buff Studios for capturing some highlights from our set:

7/4/18 Picnic in the Park, Batavia, NY

The 40th annual Picnic in the Park took place in Batavia’s Central Park, and came with a major heatwave – it was 93 degrees during our performance. Luckily the park is filled with lots of nice big trees, and there were vendors offering ice cream and lemonade. This year, Go Art! hosted the annual event, focusing on the arts by showcasing a variety of bands on the main stage with Buffalo Aerial Dance performing alongside the music.   Also featured were many local nonprofit booths, arts and crafts vendors, and arts activities for kids such a drum-making station. The crowd was fabulous especially in the heat, but only a few photos surfaced from this one.  Guess you had to be there!  Also, please pardon the perspiration!       Youtube Link to our 4th of

7/1/18 Silo City Alive 2

Silo city is one of Buffalo’s most beloved venues.  The enthusiasm for the location and the music shined through bringing a great crowd out on a 90 degree day.  The shade of the silos offered comfort making for a perfect summer day.  And the awesome lineup of bands kept us grooving and flying in through the heat!  We definitely make friends with the kiddos at this event, and couldn’t resist putting an adorable young lady on the silks for a picture (photo by Living in the Buff).

6/10/18 Jewish Federation Apartments Summer Picnic

This event took us to Williamsville to bring some circus fun to the elderly, and it was the first time most of the residents and their guests have ever seen live aerial performance.  We certainly hope we knocked their socks off!  They were one of the most pleasant crowds we’ve performed for and didn’t hold back with their questions about aerial performance after the show, which made for some fun conversations.  We also want to thank them for having the most beautiful weather we could’ve wished for at this event.

6/9/18 East Aurora Music Festival

The East Aurora music festival showcases over 200 musicians, 20 venues, 100 hours of music, food trucks and more all to benefit local organizations.  We performed in the Healthy Zone rink, first with the up-and-coming blues artist,  Hayden Fogle, and flew our second set to the sounds of The Strictly Hip.  We’d like to give our biggest thanks to both band and the amazing (huge) audiences that came out for this festival.  We loved having the chance to entertain you, and join the party.  It was quite the party!

5/31/18 Lancaster Country Club White Party

LCC welcomed us to their annual Memorial Day party, and we returned the favor by treated the guests to ethereal entertainment.  The pairing of elegant aerialists with this gorgeous setting made for a fabulous way to welcome the warmer months.     Photos courtesy of the

3/30/18 Buffalo Goes Gatsby at Hotel Lafayette

What better place than Hotel Lafayette for a Gatsby-era theme party?  This annual event is presented by Independent Health to benefit health services in Western New York.  This party was all about the fabulous 1920’s attire.  The guests looked absolutely lovely as they enjoyed dancing, live music, hors d’ouevres, fancy cocktails, and of course Buffalo Aerial Dance spinning through the air to the sounds of the Fredtown Stompers.     Check out some video hightlights here: B.A.D. at Buffalo Goes Gatsby

1/27/18 ICP Masquerade Ball

We look forward to this fun and fancy soiree every year. The Imperial Court of Buffalo and Hamlin House team up to create a fantastic experience, and this year’s featured ModDance, tons of great drag performers (as always), the Buffalo Gay Men’s choir signing Phantom of the Opera, and of course aerial entertainment courtesy of B.A.D.
