Level 1-2 Lyra
The lyra, or aerial hoop, is such an inviting shape. The circle offers the perfect frame to shapes we make and welcomes a wide variety of poses, balances, and rolls. Lyra traditionally involves spinning, but many moves, especially at the beginner level, can be done without any spin. For those who do wish to spin, we will work on techniques for spinning, and building a tolerance to gradually faster spins.
In each Level 1-2 Lyra class, we will spotlight and break down a couple fundamental lyra moves and incorporate those skills into a sequence to practice transitions. The class structure includes a yoga based warm-up, followed by technique drills, followed by the sequence of the day. Here’s a video of a Beginner Lyra Sequence.
Prerequisites: Students should have completed our Intro Series prior to taking this class or have permission of the instructor. This is class is not intended for individuals who have never taken an aerial class.
