AERIAL STYLE FORUM – Wednesday July 20 6pm-7:30pm

This amazing woman brought silks to the public in Cirque de Soliel’s Quidam in 1996.

Aerial work has exploded in recent years, and surely you’ve seen Instagram posts and YouTube videos by aerialists of all sorts. But in this vast and wide ocean, and without a trained eye to guide you, it can be hard to make sense of it all.  There are a few aerial pioneers who have really shaped our industry, and many incredibly talented professionals whose work continues to advance this beautiful art form. We’d like to show you some of our favorites, acknowledge the amazing talent and diversity in the aerial field, and give you inspiration to develop your own style.  **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN PERFORMING AERIAL**

AERIAL SAFTEY FORUM – Thursday July 20 6:30pm-8:00pm

What not to do: shoulder blades popping out of your back is not good for long-term shoulder health!

We’ll start by outlining how aerial apparatuses should be maintained and what needs to be above — and below, including a look at each of the most commonly used components in standard aerial rigging.  We’ll familiarize you with the basics of strength ratings for aerial equipment, and take a look at industry standards for safely practicing aerial.  This isn’t a rigging workshop, but a common sense introduction to bring awareness to dangerous situations and give you some resources.

Secondly, we’ll consider some common aerial injuries and offer ways to help prevent them.  A few aerial moves will be demonstrated to highlight elements that increase the likelihood of either type of injury.  We are trained aerialists and coaches; however just as we are not professional riggers, nor are we doctors or physical therapists.  We are always happy to provide you with reliable resources and referrals. **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL AERIALISTS; THIS IS INFO THAT WILL HELP YOU EVALUATE WHETHER OR NOT A SITUATION IS SAFE TO TRAIN IN, BOTH IN STUDIOS AND ELSEWHERE.**

Suggested Donation $10 per attendance.  Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help us continue to build our aerial community.
